We are proud that Chitkara International School has won innumerable accolades for different sport activities and we induce to participate in many more to come in future.
On the 5th Annual Sports Day, CIS was transformed into Athens (Greece). This year the CIS Winter Olympics were organized with the theme of ‘Origin of Modern Olympics’. The idea of changing the theme of Sports Event every year is to keep up the spirit of sports alive and make the students aware of the start of this historic journey in the history of sports.
The opening ceremony at CIS – Winter Olympics brought the same athletic festivity of 1896 Olympic Games. The culture and history of Greece was depicted through March Past and various drills. A student dressed up as “Spartan King” led his army; tried to educate the audience about the costumes and culture of Greece.
The students, teachers and the parents witnessed the grandeur of Olympics in the school. The entire event was divided into three slots; where the Junior School, the Middle and the Senior School followed the motto of Modern Olympics i.e. Citius (Faster), Altius (Higher), and Fortius (Stronger). The school students demonstrated their strength and endurance through various level wise activities and drills.
The event started with March Past, Lighting the Torch and Oath Ceremony. A drill by the CIS scouts, Marshal Arts and Gymnastic acts made the ceremony a perfect start for the annual event. The tiny tots showcased their athletic side through various races like Stack Race, Obstacle Race and by performing Gymnastic Activities. The second slot witnessed the athletic cum balancing sports acts from the Primary & Middle School. Hula Hoop race and Tame the Ball was well appreciated by the audience.
Senior students demonstrated their strength through various gymnastic acts, martial arts, races and treasure hunt. The event closed with prize distribution ceremony followed by National Anthem. All in all the Sports Day was a brilliant blend of fun and knowledge for the students as they indulged into various sports and at the same time attained knowledge about Olympics and its origin.
Sharing her views about the event Ms. Niyati Chitkara, Principal Chitkara International School said “CIS has always focused on the holistic and over all development of the child for which sports play a very important role. Our annual sports day gives students a chance to explore themselves out of the regular curriculum and it’s always a pleasure to see the excited kids putting in their best of efforts to make the most of it.”
