“The Ramayana” – Storytelling form with a twist
Chitkara International School invited Ms. Simi Srivastava, Master Storyteller and Founder – Director of Kathashala to perform a show “THE RAMAYANA” for its students from Chicklets to Grade 2. This was the first time that Ms. Srivastava performed in this region.
Kathashala is a storytelling institute that celebrates stories through various performing arts. The institute is the culmination of nearly two decades of experience in working with children, educators and parents. Kathashala’s mandate is to generate awareness and appreciation for storytelling as a powerful method of learning and teaching. The art of storytelling has existed from the ancient times and is being revived by Mrs. Simi Srivastava at Kathashala
Storytelling is a passion with Ms. Simi. She discovered it while she was doing her teacher’s training way back in 1998 (when she had given up her corporate career to seek intellectual satisfaction). Ever since, she has been narrating stories and improvising the art of storytelling.
Ms. Simi is soft skills, life skills trainer, and a performing artist. Being professionally trained in Theatre, Creative Music and Movement, Miming, and Puppetry, she combines them beautifully and effectively while performing stories.
An interactive performance of 2-1/2 hours where unique scripting of RAMAYANA engaged the young audience with contemporary background score & visuals. Through this show the school retold the legendary epic in a unique style.
