Chitkara Girls Bring Laurels for Chandigarh in National Fencing Tournament
A proud moment for Chitkara International School at 58th National Fencing Championship. Chitkara girls bagged 5 gold medals for tricity in the National Fencing Championship (under-14 girls). The championship was organized by the School Games Federation of India held at Nandyal (Andhra Pradesh) from 17th- 21st January 2014.
Fighting tough competitions from 15 states from all over India, Chandigarh held 1st position in Under-14, under 17 and under 19 categories. Kashish Sharma, student of Chitkara International School was the only player who won 4 gold medals in the championship. Ashiyana Bhardwaj won gold, Shubhjot Dayal won a Bronze, Akashdeep and Sakshi Bhandari participated enthusiastically.
Principal Niyati Chitkara congratulated the team and said “It is a proud moment for each one of us. Our girls have made us and the city proud again by becoming National winners in fencing. This victory is well deserved by students and my sports faculty who have working with the students and always there to back them”.
