The event was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University and Chairperson of Chitkara International Schools, Dr. Niyati Chitkara, Director of Chitkara International Schools, and Dr. Honey Chitkara, Associate Director Chitkara International Schools and Principal, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh. With themes of cultural diversity, sportsmanship, and global camaraderie, the event echoed the vibrant spirit of the Paris Olympics, encouraging students to push their limits, showcase their talents, and engage in healthy competition.
Celebrating Culture
The opening ceremony set the tone for the event with a lively performance by the school’s marching band, creating an electric atmosphere that ignited the spirit of competition. The grand march-past saw students from various grades parading with pride, each group representing themes of strength, unity, and global connection. Taking cues from the Paris Olympics, the procession included creative representations of French culture and heritage, such as the Lemon Festival, Cheese, Croissants, Eiffel Tower, Garlic Rooster, the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe, Mardi Gras, and Notre Dame, celebrating cultural diversity and teamwork.
Lighting of the Olympic Flame
A particularly memorable moment of the event was the Lighting of the Olympic Flame, symbolising the competitive spirit and unity of the Olympics. The flame made its way through various stages of the event, igniting the atmosphere with passion and energy, much like it will shine brightly at the Paris Olympics. The Balloon Release Ceremony, led by Dr. Madhu Chitkara, was another powerful symbol of unity and hope, with vibrant balloons soaring into the sky, representing the collective dreams and aspirations of the CIS community.
Creative Races and Teamwork
The students from Chicklets to Grade 10 at the Panchkula campus and Chicklets to Grade 12 at the Chandigarh campus participated in a series of innovative races designed to challenge their agility, creativity, problem-solving skills, and teamwork. Events such as the Parents Race, Eiffel Tower Making Race, and Balloon Balancing Race added a fun and creative twist to the event, encouraging students to collaborate and showcase their talents in a spirit of friendly competition. From the youngest participants to the senior grades, every student gave their best effort, making the event a celebration of athleticism, creativity, and innovation.
